Love Songs: Spring

Every season at Cornman Farms has its own rhythm.

The light changes.

The air shifts.

The energy of a gathering feels different.

And love, somehow, feels different too.

We asked members of our farm team and some of our favorite creative partners to share the love songs they associate with this season — the tracks they return to year after year. Some are nostalgic. Some are hopeful. Some are soulful and steady. All of them capture something about what it feels like to love during this time of year.

Spring has a magical quality about it, especially in Michigan. Flowers are starting to bloom after months of dormancy. Chicks are hatching from eggs. There are other new beginnings, too. Here at Cornman Farms, lots of couples are getting married, starting the next chapter of their lives together. Enjoy a few of our favorite songs featuring springtime vibes and celebrations of newness, from falling in love to deciding to tie the knot.

Whether you’re newly engaged, planning your wedding, or simply soaking in the season with someone you adore, we hope this playlist becomes part of your soundtrack.

“Accidentally in Love”

Counting Crows

Brigitte Olson, a former event coordinator at Cornman Farms, nominated this tune from the Shrek 2 soundtrack for our latest love songs playlist. Charming and cheery, it captures both the excitement and confusion of stumbling into a relationship. “Honestly, the whole soundtrack is phenomenal,” she says. “It makes me feel love for both myself and others.”

“Brighter Than the Sun”

Colbie Caillat

Another spot-on description of sudden attraction can be found in Colbie Caillat’s “Brighter Than the Sun”: “You hit me like a vision / I, I, I wasn’t expecting / But who am I to tell fate / Where it’s supposed to go?” As its name suggests, this track is also undeniably sunny, just like the best summer days tend to be.

“No One”

Alicia Keys

This song is about finding confidence in the strength of a relationship—and your own feelings about another person. As Alicia Keys explains in her lyrics, no one’s going to interfere with those emotions, and no drama from the rest of the world is going to weaken the bond. She compares these pressures to a spring storm as she brings herself back to what matters: “When the rain is pourin’ down / And my heart is hurtin’ / You will always be around / I know this for certain.”

“It Must Be Love”

Madness

As Cornman Farms’ resident Englishman—not to mention chef and co-managing partner—Kieron Hales had to suggest “the most British love song ever” for this playlist. What makes it British? “It’s sweet, silly, and just a little bit offbeat (literally),” he says, adding that “love isn’t always grand gestures—it’s sometimes just laughing at how ridiculous you both are.”

“Details”

Leon Bridges

Loren and Mary Beth Noyes, the team behind Adore Wedding Photography, have dubbed this sultry song “our fave vibe.” It’s basically a crush in musical form.

“Birds of a Feather”

Billie Eilish

This airy, poppy earworm is about a couple of moments of realization: that you’ve found your person and then that you want to stick with them—or, as the saying goes, flock together.

“I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles)”

The Proclaimers

Erin, Cornman Farms bartender and server, nominated this 1990s hit for our list. It’s perfect if you enjoy a sing-along or a quirky but heartfelt ode to devotion. And, fitting for a track by a duo called the Proclaimers, it feels like a first-time proclamation of love and commitment.

“Maps”

Yeah Yeah Yeahs

Proclaiming that you love someone is definitely a milestone. So is proclaiming that you can’t stand to be without them. The latter is the gist of “Maps.” “Raw and aching, this song is less about love at its best and more about love when it’s slipping through your fingers,” Kieron says. “The way Karen O delivers They don’t love you like I love you—that’s real heartbreak in a single line.”

At Cornman Farms, we believe the most meaningful weddings feel connected to the season they’re held in,  not just in color palette and flowers, but in atmosphere and emotion.

If you’re dreaming of a spring wedding that feels intentional, beautiful, and deeply personal, we’d love to show you what that can look like here. Inquire to learn more!
